INTRODUCTION
Uttarakhand Club is a group of people who are dedicated for the upliftment of the folks of Uttarakhand besides its overall development. As is known, due to extreme geographical constraints, people from hills have been migrating towards urban cities for many decades in search of employment. And, now Uttarakhandis are settled not only in all the major cities of India but in other parts of the world also. The simple and shy people, however, kept themselves confine upto earning their livelihod.
With the passage of time, however, utmost necessity has been felt by most of these people to integrate themselves and immediately after independence almost all major cities of northern India witnessed a sharp increase in the number of Uttarakhand's cultural organisations e.g. Kala Munch, Ram Lila Committees etc. With the formation of these organisations although people came forward and formed a sort of association but their purpose was limited only upto organising cultural programmes. With a view to preserve the rich social and cultural heritage of Uttarakhand vis-a-vis promoting various social activities e.g. blood donation camps, encouraging people of Uttarakhand to take up social assignments, preserve ecological balance, to preserve environment and other allied activities, a group of Uttarakhandis from all spheres of society - journalists, lawyers, social activitists, people in-service, professionals, entrerpreneurs decided to form a Club which will not only undertake all sorts of social activities but also promote and preserve the rich cultural heritage of Uttarakhand. It was indeed a challenging task for the Group to establish themselves sustaining their typical cultural identity as well as to integrate all the Organisations functioning at root level in different segments of society. Taking this challenge, hundreds of migrant brothers, aware of their social responsibility came together - organising millions of Uttarakhandis into a single unit with an objective to implement the plans for bright future. Hence, these migrant brethren established the Uttarakhand Club in 2003 A.D.
Today, Uttarakhand Club has more than 4000 members spread all over the country. The Club carry out its activities through its various branches within the country but in middle east also.
